Rubicon is a Delphi/C++Builder add-on that lets you put full text search capabilities into your VCL applications.

You retain control of all data, including all the content and all the indexing.

Beginner to advanced search expressions are supported.... from simple wildcard queries to complex expressions.

One system works with all major database bridges used by Delphi and C++Builder programmers including IB Express, dbExpress, ADO, BDE plus more than a dozen third-party database access components.

Facts about Rubicon Searches

You can search using wildcards and Boolean logic against tables, text, RTF, and HTML files. Results may be ranked and matching words automatically highlighted. A hints control displays matching words and the number of hits as the surfer types. Supports multi-table searches with tables of identical or different record structures. Most searches take less than 1/10th of a second and do not require reading the source data as Rubicon pre-builds its own index data. These indexes may be built and updated by using threads and/or multiple PCs. Includes utility applications.

FREE Demo Info / Screenshots

After installing Rubicon, look in the RBDemos folder for example projects for your database bridge(s). Initially, use the demos against the sample data. Then save your own versions and connect to your own tables. Use ExMake to build your index. Use ExSrch to run searches and see results.

The following web sites may give you an idea of the power of Rubicon, although web searches are a subset of what Rubicon can do. Usually Rubicon is used in a desktop application, where results are displayed in a grid linked to a TClientDataset.

  • Newsgroup Search Engine sponsored by Rubicon: Code News Fast uses Rubicon. This is the best place to experiment with the search features. Check the About page for the exact details about which parts were built with which versions of Delphi, Rubicon, etc.
  • Online Demo: Delphi Super Page Search Engine
  • WebHub Online Reference (webhub.com/dynhelp:search)
  • Many demos, examples and utilities are included with Rubicon (FREE and paid versions).
