Overview and Benefits

Rubicon is a Delphi/C++Builder add-on that lets you put full text search capabilities into your applications.

You retain control of all data, including all the content and all the indexing.

Beginner to advanced search expressions are supported.... from simple wildcard queries to complex expressions.

One system works with all major database bridges used by Delphi and C++Builder programmers. (And if we are missing your preferred data bridge - vote for it!)

Facts about Rubicon Searches

You can search using wildcards and Boolean logic against tables, text, RTF, and HTML files. Results may be ranked and matching words automatically highlighted. A hints control displays matching words and the number of hits as the surfer types. Supports multi-table searches with tables of identical or different record structures. Most searches take less than 1/10th of a second and do not require reading the source data as Rubicon pre-builds its own index data. These indexes may be built and updated by using threads and/or multiple PCs. Includes utility applications.

Requirements and/or Compatible Software

[x] Delphi 7, Delphi 2007, Delphi 2009, Delphi 2010, C++Builder 2007, C++Builder 2009 or C++Builder 2010
[x] Rubicon v3 is the first version to support Unicode with Delphi 2009. As of 24-Sep-2009, we are supporting these database bridges: Absolute, ADO, BDE, dbExpress, DBISAM, DISQLite3, ElevateDB, IBObjects TIBO*, IBX, NexusDB, Oracle (DOA), SDAC and UniDAC. See the Rubicon Notes page for the latest information on compilers and database bridges.

Documentation

A complete user manual is included, plus a help file. You may read the Rubicon 3 Reference Manual here. See also: Rubicon Release Notes.

Download FREE Trial Version

The installer for the free evaluation edition of Rubicon is usually available in this folder. It supports the same compilers and data bridges as the paid edition.

You are welcome to use this FREE, Lite edition of Rubicon for any and all educational projects, personal projects, and even small-scale commercial projects. When you use a FREE license, you must build all your projects with Rubicon packages.

The FREE version operates in various modes, depending on your unlock code.

  • Default = Lite, Unregistered
In this mode, you can use all the features for an unlimited time. However, there is a limit on the number of words that can be used for searching (1500), and there is an added delay of 1.5 seconds for each search. Also a small yellow window appears while running. This mode is suitable for small, personal and/or educational applications.

  • Lite, Registered
In trade for a valid email address so that we can occasionally send you product news, you can obtain a registered lite license for $0.00. In this mode, the little yellow window disappears and the 1.5 delay is removed. Nonetheless, overall performance is still slightly slower than the paid version.

  • Evaluation (typical for professional developers)
In evaluation mode, you have no limit on the number of words, and no 1.5 second delay on searching. Nonetheless, overall performance is still slightly slower than with the paid version (because license checks are still done occasionally).

Obtaining a FREE lite or evaluation license is easy. Visit http://www.href.com/unlock and ask for your license, which will be delivered to you via email immediately. If you have already installed Rubicon and wish to enter a new license, re-run the Setup program or edit your license using Start > Programs > HREF Tools > Rubicon > ZMAdmin.

We have made this process as simple as possible so you do not have to waste much time trying to make a crack code. Just get yourself a free license now!

Upgrade Policy

People who licensed Rubicon v2 prior to 01-Oct-2008 are eligible for a $150.00 upgrade price for Rubicon 3 for Delphi 2009 via this link.

Rubicon v3 will include free updates for at least 12 months.

Technical Support

Support for Rubicon is free via our newsgroups. We will also listen to installation questions sent through the contact page.

Source Code Availability

Full Delphi source for the components, all demos and all utilities is included with the paid edition of Rubicon Pro. The free version does not include much source code (which is why you must compile with packages).
