Browsing >>Branding: The dilemma of the dynamic-static web site

PROBLEM: Dynamic/Static combination sites
Many of today's interactive web site developers are caught on the horns of a dilemma.

"This is a REALLY big deal. We have many sites that are 200 pages static and 10 pages dynamic. Before branding, when jumping between static and dynamic pages (inevitable) the session information would be lost, making all sorts of workarounds necessary.

Now even sites that are mostly static, but need some interactivity can easily take advantage of WebHub!"

-- Christopher Rowan, programmer at Sony Music Communications in Japan

To have their sites obtain as many hits from Internet search engines as possible, they need to provide a site with a sizable number of static pages. At the same time, providing an interactive site requires the use of dynamic pages, i.e. HTML code generated on-the-fly in response to a database query or other action such as "add to shopping cart." Inherently, creating an interactive site that will appear in many search engines, requires being able to provide links among dynamic and static pages.

So what is the dilemma? It is straightforward to create a site with 100% dynamic or 100% static pages. Until now, it has been almost impossible to create a site consisting of a mixture of dynamic and static pages because it is difficult to consistently and correctly track the state of a given user session.

SOLUTION: HREF Tools Creates Concept of "Branding"
HREF introduced the concept of branding to resolve the problem of how to integrate dynamic and static pages. The first time a dynamic page is accessed, WebHub assigns the surfer a unique session ID that is automatically appended to the URL of the page being accessed. Any number of static pages can be accessed between dynamic pages, without loss of the surfer's Session ID because the Session ID is "branded" onto each link.

Implementing branding is easy. The branding capability requires the use of only a few macros to enable a dynamic page to link to unlimited static pages. It does not require any custom Delphi programming. Anyone who learns WebHub-HTML macros can use it with the HUB.EXE or WEBAPP.EXE provided by HREF Tools.

Simply put, WebHub solves a difficult problem in a quick, easy, and elegant manner. In minutes, the web site developer can implement a solution that would be difficult, if not impossible to provide with other environments.
